Our People
Daniel Taylor
Director
With nearing 10 years of experience as a teacher in both Primary and Secondary education, Daniel has taught in a range of settings and year groups.
“Key stage 2 and 3, in my opinion, are the best age groups to teach and explore learning with. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and their ideas are wonderous. They are in that fantastic, sweet spot where they can talk (a lot) and explain their thoughts and feelings, without fear and influence. It is a privilege to be able to share experiences with them and I look forward to seeing the adults they become.”
Daniel has developed Big Thinkers in his various roles throughout these years of teaching, building on his ideas, experience and resources that engage students and staff alike.
“I have always believed in education being an opportunity to go beyond the curriculum and showing children that there is a big, wide world out there, full of amazing humans and their stories. The greatest gift you can give a child is humility and an understanding of other people and their perspectives. Big Thinkers allows us to do this in a way that also encourages independence and a love of learning. They also get to read some fantastic books by our amazing partner authors along way.”
Elizabeth Hill
Director
Elizabeth is a secondary humanities teacher with nearly 10 years experience as a Head of Department and a Head of Year. Her passion is people.
“My experience as an educator and historian has taught me that everyone has their own story to tell; we just need to listen, appreciate and learn from them. I have always enjoyed reading and listening to new and interesting voices from different backgrounds. Knowing their viewpoint and context allows me to be a more understanding and empathetic person.”
Elizabeth has been working with Big Thinkers since it’s creation in 2020, focusing on creating content and developing links with our charity partners.
“My hope as a teacher has always been to have a positive influence on the students I work with, and ultimately on society. Big Thinkers has given me an opportunity to do this on a much wider scale and my hope is that one day we will find out that one of our learners has gone on to do something amazing in whatever field they choose to dedicate their lives to.”
